We restore our communities in tragedy’s wake

Posted by AT&T Alabama

Our thoughts, our prayers and our actions are with all impacted by this week’s tornadoes. Severe weather swept across Alabama and Georgia, spawning tornadoes that produced extensive damage to many homes and businesses and resulted in the loss of many lives.

Our friends and family in East Alabama communities have been impacted. And, our teams are hard at work, responding to needs and keeping our customers, including FirstNet subscribers, connected.

Our FirstNet colleagues are deploying additional network assets to support rescue and recovery efforts, and our National Disaster Recovery team has deployed a COW (Cell on Wheels), a mobile tower and generators to Smiths Station to help with communications.

With the tornadoes leaving many without power, our retail partners have deployed a charging station to the Providence Baptist Church at 2807 Lee Road 166 in Opelika, and one to Sanford Middle School at 1500 Lee Road 11 in Opelika – the hub for first responders. And, our AT&T employees are volunteering – handing out water, batteries, nonperishable snacks, and toiletries, such as soap and deodorant.

To keep AT&T wireless and AT&T PREPAID customers affected by tornadoes in Alabama and Georgia connected during this difficult time, we’re providing unlimited talk, text and data access. This offer is for customers in the identified zip codes below, and runs from March 5 through March 10.

To make this possible we’re automatically issuing credits and waiving additional service charges for AT&T wireless customers with billing addresses and AT&T PREPAID customers with phone numbers in over 80 zip codes at this time.1To see if your zip code is covered see below.2

Customers in these areas may still receive alerts during these dates, but accounts will reflect the credits and/or waived data, voice and text charges.

We will continue to monitor the situation as we all pull together to champion the challenges natural disasters present, and as our teams continue to work to repair damages to our network and restore our communities. I encourage everyone to do so safely.

I also encourage those who want to help those impacted by the tornadoes in Alabama and Georgia to text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to give $10.3 These donations enable the Red Cross to respond to and help people recover from this disaster.

Thank you for all you do to keep our state connected.

Be safe.
