AT&T Contributes $25,000 to Support zero8hundred

Thank Our Heroes This Veterans Day

SAN DIEGO, November 7, 2017 — As part of our Thank Our Heroes campaign, AT&T* is teaming up with zero8hundred. We’re recognizing our nation’s heroes and supporting zero8hundred’s efforts in serving active military families in the San Diego region with a contribution of $25,000 to zero8hundred.

zero8hundred was created from a cross-sector collaborative and proactively links transitioning military families to a broad range of resources and opportunities in the community, helping them successfully transition to civilian life. AT&T’s contribution supports zero8hundred’s military transition program and brings AT&T Digital You safety and security training to San Diego area veterans and their spouses.

“Service members are an incredible asset to our community, but transitioning from the military can be very challenging,” said Sean Mahoney, Executive Director of zero8hundred. “This contribution from AT&T will help us provide personal transition assistance by Peer Navigators to many service members and their families to make sure they are set up for success.”

“We’re taking a moment to say ‘thank you’ to our nation’s servicemen and women. Not just on Veteran’s Day, but every day, we should remember those who have done so much to protect our country and freedoms,” said Ignacio De La Torre, Regional Vice President, AT&T. “AT&T has a long history supporting our military and first responders. And this contribution is one small way we can express our thanks.”

This is part of a $500,000 total contribution we’re making to local organizations across the country who serve veterans and active duty military personnel. But we’re not stopping with a monetary contribution.

We’re also hosting community volunteer events across the country with local organizations serving active military personnel, veterans and their families.

We encourage everyone to participate in the #ThankOurHeroes social media campaign to show their appreciation. People can upload messages, photos and videos showing their gratitude to veterans using #ThankOurHeroes. Our AT&T and veterans’ organizations’ handles will share throughout the month.
