AT&T Launches First Wave of Fixed Wireless Internet in Fresno County

Fixed Wireless Internet - Now available in parts of Mendota and other rural and underserved areas of the county

MENDOTA, CA, December 6, 2017 – AT&T* has expanded Fixed Wireless Internet¹ to homes and small businesses in parts of Mendota and other rural and underserved locations in parts of Fresno County.

Joined by State Assembly member Dr. Joaquin Arambula, Fresno County Supervisor Brian Pacheco, and other community leaders, AT&T announced that Mendota and other areas of Fresno County are included in the rural and underserved locations in California to which AT&T has extended Fixed Wireless service as part of its FCC Connect America Fund commitment.

Residents and businesses can sign-up for service today in eligible parts of Mendota and other areas of Fresno County by calling 1-877-990-0041. AT&T plans to reach over 141,000 locations with this technology across California by 2020.

"In today's digital economy, having access to high-speed internet is essential for our residents and small businesses," said Fresno County Supervisor Brian Pacheco. "AT&T's investment in our rural communities will bring enhanced connectivity, economic growth and educational opportunities.”

The fixed wireless internet technology delivers a reliable home internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps. The connection comes from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on customers’ homes or businesses. Fixed wireless is a cost-effective way to deliver high-quality, high-speed internet to customers living in rural and underserved areas.

"Access to fast and reliable internet is a game changer in today's world, and this is a new way we can connect folks who haven’t had high speed internet available to them. In addition to California, the service is available to residents and businesses in parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin, as part of our FCC Connect America Fund commitment. We plan to provide access to over 1.1 million locations by 2020.

Between 2014 and 2016, AT&T invested more than $7.2 billion in its best-in-class wired and wireless networks in California from 2014-2016.
