AT&T Contributes $100,000 to Thomas Fire Fund as Part of Pledge to Aid Communities Impacted by Southern California Wildfires

VENTURA, February 7, 2018 – AT&T* presented a $100,000 contribution to the United Way of Ventura County’s Thomas Fire Fund yesterday as part of its pledge to aid communities impacted by Southern California wildfires and its ongoing commitment to serving the people and communities of California. The contribution supports relief efforts and assists the victims of the fires in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

With this donation, AT&T has made $400,000 in contributions to support wildfire relief efforts across California in 2017.

"The historic fire devastated the residents in Ventura and Santa Barba counties and we are committed to assisting in the relief efforts," said Ken McNeely, President, Pacific Region, AT&T Communications. “AT&T is proud to support organizations like United Way of Ventura County, that are working to rebuild our communities.”

“We’re grateful to AT&T for their support of the Ventura and Santa Barbara communities during this time of need,” said Eric Harrison, President and CEO of United Way of Ventura County. “AT&T’s support will help with our restoration efforts and assist those who were completely devastated by the Thomas Fire.”

AT&T has a long history of supporting communities before, during and after disasters. Investing nearly $7.2 billion in its wired and wireless networks in California from 2014-2016 and more than $600 million in its Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) program since 1992.

AT&T works in close collaboration with first responders to prepare for disasters and help the network be resilient and operational when disaster strikes. During the recent California wildfires, AT&T also supported customers and evacuees at shelters, provided free AT&T PREPAID phones for impacted customers without wireless service, activated a text-to-give campaign benefiting American Red Cross*** and pledged humanitarian aid to affected communities. About The United Way of Ventura County

In the aftermath of a disaster, United Way's Ventura County Volunteer Center will serve as an online, call, and walk-in center for spontaneous volunteers. The Volunteer Center will register volunteers and coordinate with the Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services to place them where they can do the most good for the community. 2-1-1 Ventura County will also be available 24/7 to register volunteers, answer questions, and connect those in need with the resources to help them. www.vcunitedway.org
