Joe is the President of AT&T Florida, Puerto Rico and the U. S. Virgin Islands.
Joe York was born October 5, 1968 in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Auburn University with a B. S. in Business in 1991, and later attended Troy State University to study Broadcast Journalism. He is married to Jennifer and has three children (Collin, Ella and Spencer) and they reside in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Mr. York has held various other positions within AT&T including most recently Vice President – Legislative & Regulatory Affairs with AT&T Florida. His leadership in 2007 resulted in the Florida Legislature reforming how the cable industry is regulated.This major change in state law has resulted in greater competition and new investments into the Florida economy. In 2009, he successfully led a reform of the telecommunication industry regulations. This Regulatory Reform Law passed the Florida Legislature and was signed into law by the Governor in June 2009. In 2011, Joe successfully led a large coalition that completely deregulated the telecommunications industry. As a result of these legislative victories, Florida has the most competitive communications market in the entire country. This law has led to increased consumer benefits and substantial investments into Florida’s communications infrastructure.
Joe served as the Regional Director of Corporate and External Affairs for AT&T of Central Florida from July 2002 – August 2005. Before coming to AT&T, Joe was a Partner in Arnall & York, a firm specializing in Governmental Affairs located in Jacksonville, Florida. He represented several well known corporations such as AT&T, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, Florida Power & Light, PGA of America, City of Jacksonville, Sprint and Verizon. Prior to founding Arnall & York, Joe served as Chief Aide in the Florida Legislature for six years.
Joe currently serves as the Chairman of the Jacksonville Port Authority (JaxPort). He was appointed by the Governor in 2010 to serve on the Board of Directors to JaxPort. He also serves on the Associated Industries of Florida’s Board of Directors, as well as the Executive Committee. Additionally, Joe currently serves as a member of The Players Council which is a community group that advises The PGA Tour. He is the past Chairman of the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyist, and is a Member of the Wolfson Children’s Hospital Dream Coat Society. He has been honored as a 40 under 40 Community Leader in Orlando and Jacksonville by the Orlando and Jacksonville Business Journals. Other awards include being honored with the Charles Bennett Leadership award by the Northeast Florida Jaycees.
Other past community service include serving on the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Northeast Florida Board of Directors, the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission Board of Directors, the Orlando Regional Chamber Executive Board of Directors, BusinessForce Executive Board of Directors. Joe is a Graduate of Leadership Florida Class 22 and Leadership Orlando.
