Richland Parrish Internet

AT&T* Fixed Wireless Internet1 for rural and underserved locations is now available to residents and small businesses in parts of Richland Parish. AT&T announced this service today at a news conference held south of Rayville at the location of a tower equipped with the new technology.

This rollout, now in 18 states, began in 2017. The company now offers Fixed Wireless Internet to over 440,000 locations across 18 states with plans to provide access to over 1.1 million locations by the end of 2020.

State Senator Francis Thompson, “This is good news for the people of Richland Parish and other areas of Louisiana who will benefit from this new technology and more access to fast broadband service.  From health care and education to public safety and small business, having faster and more reliable internet service is a key factor in our state’s success today and for the future. I want to thank AT&T for their work in bringing more wireless internet access to Richland Parish and Northeast Louisiana.”

State Representative Charles R. “Bubba” Chaney said, “Now more than ever, people have the need to be connected with family, friends, for educational purposes, public safety priorities and for the overall day-to-day activity of commerce. That’s why it’s helpful and appreciated especially in our rural areas whenever new technology becomes available like AT&T’s Fixed Wireless Service being announced today.”

“AT&T is proud to work with our local, state and federal leadership to provide the connectivity Louisiana’s residents and businesses demand,” said AT&T Louisiana Regional Director of External and Legislative Affairs Robert Vinet. “Through this new AT&T Fixed Wireless Internet service, we are helping close the remaining connectivity gap in our state.”

Fixed Wireless Internet service delivers an internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps and upload speeds of at least 1Mbps. The connection comes from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on a customer’s home or business. This is an efficient way to deliver high-quality, high-speed internet to customers living in underserved rural areas.

The towers used to provide this service are connected to AT&T’s network using AT&T fiber optics. AT&T has more than 1.97 million strand miles of AT&T fiber optics covering Louisiana, which enables the company to offer a wide variety of products and services delivering the high-speed connectivity Louisiana businesses and residents need.

In addition to Louisiana, the service is available to residents and businesses in parts of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
